I'm kinda in jail with you right now, just a bit self imposed. I have an Ed Brown Special Forces 1911 in grey and black at my FFL until I can get it on Monday. Could have picked it up Friday evening but too much on the plate that day. He's at the range today so I too have to wait. Welcome to the 1911 club. This is my 4th and I'll bet your's won't be your last.

That's freaking horrible man, and thank you for welcoming me. Your 911 sounds awfully expensive. Any pics? Also.. My sa 1911 loaded is brand new. It is the NM serial number and doesn't say anything about brazil. Is that good?

Use a soft bristle toothbrush on the outside and wipe it off. Parkerizing is a weather proofing, it should be ok. My mossberg 500 persuader is parkerized, and it has lasted about 8 years. Yes I hunt with it in all types of weather.

Thanks for the tip my Asian brother, but seems that the parkerize scratches very easily. I can see steel marks under on some scratched areas on the brand new gun. Also the wooden cocobolo grip has chips on the bottom

Welcome to 1911's world. You can either send it to Springfield and have them refinish it and put new grips on it, or if it were me I would break it in first then have it cerakoted and install g10 grips. Make it in your own ideas

Cerakote is a finish, google it. It comes in different colors, you use less lube, and I think the only finishes that might be harder is anodization or tenifer (Glocks only). Springfield cerakote the TRP ans MC Operator and Sig Sauer cerakotes scorpion. Different gun smiths will do it or you go straight cerakote.
