.22LR Conversion Kit

I'm thinking about getting a .22LR conversion kit for my colt government. Here are my justifications:

1. To use it as a trigger control practice tool to save on bullets and focus more on body mechanics without the anticipation of heavier .45 recoil (I also have Glock 9mm but that's another gun that I will not be classifying with).

2. To shoot .22LR for fun

Just like buying new toys, one always come up with justifications. To make sure I'm not making excuses, I would appreciate any thoughts on those who have gone conversion kit before me :)

Thanks in advance for your comments.

Consider if you will...Marvel Precision 1911 .22 rimfire Conversions

I have never owned one of their kits, but have always wanted one.
Maybe I'll ask Santa. :p

Just my opinion but I don't like the idea of shooting dirty 22lr in any of my centerfire pistols.

Not when a dedicated 22lr pistol like the GSG 1911-22 is had for the near/same cash as a conversion kit!

It's $308 tonight.

That's not a fake can.

Damn thing costs twice as much as the gun!

+1 for the ATI GSG 1911/22. Or the ATI GSG SIG-branded 1911/22 if you have the cash and want the cachet.

I mounted a Kimber 22 conversion kit on a spare Essex frame I had. Originally thought about getting another slide set up for 45ACP to have a switch piece, but as others have mentioned it shot well enogh that I have left it as a dedicated 22LR 1911. Great plinking piece and it does give me an alternative to practice with at less cost for ammo. I say go for it and enjoy. Good luck.

Is it quite and worth the dough??

I wonder why it's not legal for sale in Illinois. All of the gun shops here sell them? Along with several other versions.

Is it worth it? Na....but some folks are can guys and some are not.

The tax stamp ($200), the setting up of a trust and the NFA BS is just a hassle.

Is it cost effective on a rimfire? Probably not, but I sure would like to get one like JD's!
