Could this be it???
An Ithaca Centennial 1911?
I'm interested for obvious reasons!
From the Ithaca display at the SHOT Show:
......^ Top, Ithaca's Modern 1911 (jeweled barrel & guide rod??) and the Ithaca Classic M1911A1
Ithaca Gun Turns Back The Clock With New 1911
When American forces went off to battle in World War II, so did Ithaca Gun. Ithaca like many other companies built 1911 pistols for our soldiers to carry into the fight. At the 2010 SHOT Show Ithaca returned to its wartime past with the introduction of a limited production vintage 1911 based on their original WWII model. And they added a modern match grade model for good measure.
Both models, which are chambered in .45 ACP and are 100% American made, will be available later this year - think summer - and will retail for around $1,200+, though the MSRP is not final.
The match grade model 1911 has all the usual features you'd expect in such a model: ambi safety, jeweled barrel and guide rod, front strap checkering, checkering on the slide in place of serrations for cocking and a variety of grip plate options.
For more information visit The Ithaca Gun Company. (Don't bother, there's nothing about the 1911 there! )
This is the NEW Ithaca Gun Co., located in Upper Sandusky, OH not the old Ithaca Gun Works on "Gun Hill" in Ithaca, NY.
Here's the "company history" according to their website:
•1883~William Henry Baker and partners go into business as Ithaca Gun Company, start making side by side shotguns
•1937~The John Browning designed Model 37 is put into production at Ithaca
•1967~Ithaca Gun Company is sold to what will become General Recreation, Inc.
•1987~Ithaca Acquisition, Inc. moves gunmaking operations to King Ferry, NY. Changes name of Model 37 to Model 87.
•1996~Ithaca Gun Company, LLC changes name of the Ithaca pump gun back to Model 37
•2005~Ithaca Guns USA, LLC of Upper Sandusky, OH purchases Ithaca Gun's assets, starts M37 production
•2007~Ithaca Gun Company acquires the assets of Ithaca Guns USA, LLC and continues moving forward in Ohio, bringing modern techniques and ideas to gunmaking This could be interesting! __________________ .

Interesting indeed. Ithaca has a fine history. I am looking forward to this coming year of announcements.

A canebrake Centennial 1911 would be a COLTS, exact replica of the M1911, with modern processing, modern materials, vintage markings, special serial numbering and a slide with the vintage roll mark (see below) on one side and a NOT BAROQUE but special "Centennial Government 1911 - 2011" roll mark on the other.
Solid Long Smooth Faced Trigger, No Finger Relief Crescent Cuts to Frame behind the Trigger, GI Wide Spur Hammer, Short Spur on grip safety, Flat Main Spring Housing, Thin front sight, Small rear sight notch, Wood Double Diamond checkered grips, Lanyard Ring, Blued not Parkerized and shipped in a replica of the original box with wax paper wrapping!
The only other improvement would be a upgrade to the common blueing, maybe a finish like the one found on the Royal Combat Commander featuring a deep Royal Blue finish.
Produce them to market demand and stop production and the special serial numbering on 12/31/2011!
Price them at $999.99 and produce them with music wire springs and carbon steel parts.
Feel free to produce any other limited edition, foo foo, gilded, scrolled, unobtanium, machined in space's zero gravity models you care to. I don't want one!
I will buy the canebrake Colts Centennial 1911 for myself and all three of my kids! Colt, you wont be able to keep up with production!
Wow, thats amazing! I'd be your next buyer It perfectly envisions and commerates the 1911s service for America and its Milatary, while still keeping it a No-Nonsence badass! __________________ An Ameture does it until they can get it right, a Pro does it until they can't get it wrong |

Saw an ad for Cylinder and Slide. It says they are going to make 100 exact reproductions of the original Colt 1911. He is looking for those interested now and wants to have them finished by the 2011 SHOT show. __________________ كافر-INFIDEL

Sounds like he read Cane's post, except for the part about the price and length of production time, that is. To me, $4000.00, seems pretty close to unobtainium. __________________ Linda

"Speaking of price and the do-ability of this project, the price that I have now based on my projections is $4000 per pistol. I will start this project only when I receive 50 deposits of $2000. The cut off date for receiving the first 50 deposits so I can launch this project will be May 30th, 2010. If I have received the required 50 paid deposits by that time all deposits become non refundable and the project will move forward. I have to start the project at that time to be even remotely able to deliver the pistols in 2011. If I do not receive the needed 50 paid deposits by that time I will have to put the project on hold and I will return all deposits in full that I have received. If for some reason the price that I have now increases, everyone that has paid a deposit will be contacted and given a refund of their deposit if they so desire. I would really like to be able to build this 1911 reproduction to celebrate the 100 anniversary of the 1911 but I understand that these are trying times for many people due to the state of the economy and the unknowns of job security so this type of project may be badly timed."
Next to last paragraph. __________________ Linda
