Default 1952 Colt lightweight Commander .38 super

So I came across a deal I just couldn't pass up. Not 100% original. It has been refinished, the grips aren't original, and it has Novak night sights installed, but she sure is sweet

Rigger,

Nice Pistol! Sounds like you got a deal on her! I have a Colt Light Weight Commander Custom and I love that pistol as I am sure you will. I see you have the standard frame on yours! Once again NICE PISTOL!
Let is know how it shoots! Send us some pics.

greg, I don't care what you paid for that sweetheart, you have a keeper.

The sights are a must have over the bump and hump!

I think an arched MSH is a necessity on a 1911 and the double diamonds are mega-retro.

The only thing I'd change is to install a new grip safety. With the arched MSH your thumb web will be forced upward and it will be much more comfortable to shoot with the hi-ride beavertail.

This should just drop in:

Beavertail Grip Safety | Drop-In | Commander | Blue-Wilson Combat

Order the mags from Tripp Research. Twice the WC mag at the same price.

Default Now she's ready

Got a couple parts in today. She looks and feels much better now. I'm going out to shoot her tomorrow.

Default Range report

Went to the range today. All I can say is...WOW!! Love the way this thing shoots.

Fired 3 brands of ammo. American Eagle 147 gr +P FMJ, Fiocchi 130 gr FMJ, and Wilson Combat 124 gr XTP HP +P JHP at 20'. Each 9 rd mag was shot in under 10 secs. Accuracy with all 3 was good, but I think I prefer the lighter bullets for feel and reaquisition of target. Only shot one mag of the WCs, but they proved good enough for a carry rd.

I hate to say this, but I'm considering selling off some of my .45s to get another 38 super. Maybe a govt model....
