Default 1911s in Movies

Does anyone have an extensive list of movies that show the 1911 a lot in them? I can find several that show a 1911 once in a while, and even then only briefly, but usually switch to a rifle/machine gun.

So far, all I've got is Bruce Willis, in "Last Man Standing."

Pretty much anything set in the 30's mobster scene. WWII movies as well.

My most favorite movie with 1911s is the Expendables, Sylvester Stallone always carried two, and had a secret drawer in the dash if his truck that had a 1911 with carbon fiber grips on it........... One badass dude right there!

Great reponses/choices! I too looked into the 30's - 40's gangster movies; but all I could find were the small 6-shot, 38spl revolvers. I haven't checked out what you guys have recommended yet; but, by the end of tomorrow night, I'll bet that there are few, very few, more recommendations.

What set me off was watching an old movie about Alvin York, in WW-I, with the actor using a Luger instead of a 1911. Why? - because Sillywood could not make a 1911 work, at that time, with blanks.

Why do I bring this up? I believe many of us, after spending hours/days/weeks, training, reading, training, discussing the truely serious aspects of using a 1911, and training, enjoy the escapism of a movie - no matter how silly - of the actors using our beloved metal manhood. After spending my budget for rent, ammo, utilities, ammo, food, ammo, gas, ammo, beer, and ammo; all I have left is for entertainment movies.

Please - keep your recommendations coming!

(PS - Mr Cane: I "THINK" I remember some of the movies you list, and if I remember correctly (highly doubtful), the appearence of the 1911s were rare, and brief. I hope I am wrong after I watch them.)

Captain America

I just saw it yesterday afternoon. A 1911 is the only weapon he carries in the film. I give it 4.5 boxes of popcorn.

Black Hawk down also has a good bit of 1911s in it, since a lot of them are playing delta force and rangers, but there's still that dern Beretta a lot as well
