I used to own an American Classic and it was a good gun. It didn't jam, shot pretty straight and had a decent trigger. I have heard a ton of positive remarks about RIA too. As far as Taurus goes, I have heard good and bad.

I have a couple of more expensive 1911s and recently bought a Taurus. I'm pretty happy with it. Colts are always good, but nobody seems to have any. The new Ruger looks interesting, but they fly off the shelf......doc
