1911 Query

Prolley a dumb question, but a friend has a 1937 Remington made 1911 in 98% shape. Anyone have a ballpark guess worth?

Around $1000 but some people would ask over $2k.

Depends on the gun, it's history, if it has all it's original parts, ect.

that sounds like a parts gun value 500-700 if in very good condition. im pretty sure remington did not make 1911's in 1937. remington started making them in 1943.

its very common to find remington rand slides on colt frames. these, and other combinations, are parts guns and are shooters as they have zero collector value.

colt production serials run in these blocks for 1937 710001-711606 and 712350and712349

Documentation goes a long way in determining value.

If could have been arsenal rebuilt with different parts.

That happened a lot between during and after ww2. Those are still just shooters no collector value unless its a singer part on the gun. But pretty much all of that is fake.

People do recreate 100% original guns of all military issue types but doing that is normally more than the collector value is worth. The folks that do that generally do it as a labor of love not to make money since gathering the original parts one at a time isn't cheap
