I've owned the Ultra Carry II for four years. I got the Crimson Trace laser with it. I have four other 1911's and this is my favorite. It shoots very accurately, has normal recoil, and with the weight (all steel), it doesn't make much difference than a govt size. Never a stovepipe, never a jam, and I have no idea about Customer Service, never needed it. Its one of my favorite guns. I don't carry it, its my night stand gun. (I carry an XDs). Ya know, they're all good, but what I like is the all black, no nonsense, tactical, and professional look of the gun. Its one of the few I can't quite get enough of looking at it. There's something about that Kimber Black I really like! Yep, there are a few added steps to field strip (a pin), but all in all, its easy to see and feel the quality of the gun. People like to pick on Kimber for its price, thats fine, but its cheap compared to a custom, and includes some nice features found on custom guns. I feel I got what I paid for, and am very satisfied, and have plenty to compare it to.
