Kimber makes some very good looking pistols, but with only a one year warranty and as some have reported, poor customer service. at the prices they are going fo, i would want stellar CS and a much longer warranty before i shelled out that amount of money for a Kimber.

some people have excellent performance out of them and some have problems from day one out of the box. IMO, this is just not acceptable with having only a one year warranty, and when other lesser priced brands of 1911's have much better warranties. just my opinions and observations.

Westy~ Some like them some don't. I like them above all other 1911s I've owned for over 40 years and I've have 6 including my recent Raptor. I've only had "1" minor issue with one them and IMHO, I felt the Customer Service folks were stand up. I use mine often at the range and so far have been very pleased with them. I've shot a lot of brands of 1911's and it all boils down to what you can put the best grouping with. This brand got me there.

I've actually heard someone try to claim the one year warranty as a selling point.

"I'd rather have a one year warranty, because the company knows their gun won't need a lifetime warranty. These other companies know their guns are going to have to be worked on for years to come"

Sounded like a liberal's logic to me. I just kept scrolling, not bothering to point out that simply changing the grips voids that one year warranty...

There's also that argument, "it takes a break in period because its engineered to such tight tolerances"...
My Springer only choked when I MADE it choke, just to see what kind of trash it would eat. Note: it doesn't like ammo with cracked, bulged cases, or reloads that have an OAL that pushes the bullet into the lands, or reloads with a long OAL combined with a wide ogive hollow point.

I have to put that in my "top dumazz ways to justify lack of confidence in a product" file

If you want the Kimber, get it. Mine has caused me no headaches at the range, and I did not wait 500 rounds to test some JHP rounds.

Trip....I wouldn't believe that warranty selling point either...and I own them. You're probably close on the logic source (goofs) Honestly, I've owned Kimbers for a long time and never once had an issue with their service department....of course being old and crotchety on the phone works too.
