The serial number, 2071639, is part of a 1944-45 Remington Rand production run of 184,600.

This gun was built in 1945 and probably saw no WW II action.

If it is a fake, it looks like a good one! Hell, I'd pay $20 for it.

yes it is a fake, the serial number is copied from an original one. i can't even believe it was home made.. i thought the gun would be crude.
the only thing that is not present are the proofmarks & inspection marks

I'd say everyone should own a Colt Trophy Gold Cup at least once in their life. Classic top of the line Colt. I'd also add either an Ed Brown Kobra Carry or if you want to save some money and have the same parts, a Dan Wesson CBOB.

My 1911 has Remington slide, Essex frame,, or vice versa,, and was parted together for a good fit back in the 60's. The major components are surely varying ages, but it shoots well and is always reliable and trustworthy,, looks like canbrake's vintage piece,, just alot more beat up,, but sound.
