Which 1911 for me?

So I am trying to figure out what 1911 I am going to buy. Price is a factor for me. I have it down to a few in the lower part and high part of my price range.

What do you guys think?

Lower Price :

Para Ordnance GI Expert
Para-Ordnance, High-Quality Handguns: Products

Taurus 1911B or maybe the ALR
Taurus International Manufacturing Inc

Springfield MilSpec PB9108LP
Springfield Armory

--------------------------------------------------------------

Higher Price:

Para Ordnance 1911 SSP
Para-Ordnance, High-Quality Handguns: Products

Springfield Loaded PX9154LP
Springfield Armory

Or if you guys have another suggestions I would open to hearing them. I am calling my local dealer tomorrow. Their distributor has really good prices on Taurus pistols compared to the MSRP. I am hoping it will be the same for the Para and Springfield. I would like to keep the pistol $700 or lower, but I will spend slightly more if I have to. My local dealer can get me the 1911B for $550.

After a bunch of research, I went with the Taurus, and have had no regrets. Mine was $525 and has all the features as the $1000 1911s. The finish may not be quite as high luster as the Kimbers and such, but a finish isn't worth $500 more. I have not had a single problem.

1911 For The Win

First off, congrats on selecting THE handgun of the century in the 1911.

Of your list, I would say the Taurus has the best "bang for the buck". It's a good pistol, with a lot of the key features, for not a ton of dough. Taurus has a lifetime warranty ( though customer service is spotty according to reports ).

Here is a report, including the one, lone downside, that one of our members found about the PT1911.

If you have the money to step up to a Kimber, I would do it, because I think they are turning out a great product, but given the price range, the Taurus is a good second choice.

Para bothers me because they produce their firearms in Canada, can't sell to Canadian buyers, but don't do anything to change that fact. That bugs me - they should be working, as a company, to reverse Canada's back-ass gun laws....

I too would recommend the Taurus PT1911B. In fact, it was the first M1911A1 I had ever gotten the pleasure to shoot, and it did not disappoint. For me, it was both comfortable to shoot and accurate, and like RMBLON said most of the features you get on the pistol are what you would find on a $1,000 model. You cannot go wrong with the PT1911B. :)

I have my new 1911

I have chosen my new 1911 so I thought I would post it on here. It was not even any in the list, but I got a good price on it to bring it close to my price range. It was still a little above it :).

In your price range why wouldn't you include a Colt?

Colt 1911 Gov't 70 Series Reissue .45 ACP Blue for Sale at Buds Gun Shop $907.00

Colt 1911 Gold Cup Trophy Stainless for Sale at Buds Gun Shop $938.00

Colt 1911 XSE Government Enhanced Compitition .45 Blue for Sale at Buds Gun Shop $830.00

Colt 1911 XSE Government Enhanced Compitition .45 Stainless for Sale at Buds Gun Shop $830.00

I have not been able to bring it to the range and shoot it yet.

And for the other question regarding the Colt pistols. I got this Kimber for less then any of those :).
