Trip Research makes an optional alloy base for their Gen II Cobra mag that is pretty aggressive. Not sure its made for head banging but I bet it'll work. :p

"...melee to the forehead..."

That sounds like a good way to ruin a mag and create firearm malfunctions.

If a bad guy requires you to pull the handgun and is close enough to be hit with the handgun, then pull the trigger and finish it.

www.dawsonprecision.com MAGAZINE PARTS:1911 Single Stack:Basepads for 1911 Mags to be used with or without Standard Magwell Category

I use Dawson Precision extended basepads, they are machined solid aluminum. Sorry, but no teeth:p

I would not suggest hitting anyone in the head with a firearm of any type, especially a semi with a magazine.

A good sharp blow can break parts. The 1911 in particular is built tough but they will break. The guns are not meant to be used as hammers or as skull bashers. You can easily break a mag spring, latch or even possibly cause an unintentional discharge.

Also, I would place someone in jail that physically struck a person with a sidearm. The offender would not have to worry about a firearm in the future since they would not own one legally.

I have been made enough to pistol whip someone but did not do so due to the legal proceedings that would follow.

Then if you have a gun in hand during this melee, there is a chance you can lose your gun in the fight, get it knocked out of your hand, or receive a broken wrist from it being used as a lever.

I have been in some of the worst bar fights there are and I can say it is best to leave the gun in the holster.

It may be required when you're standing knee deep in brass. :o

get a mainspring housing with a lanyard loop sticking out the bottom. if your forced to go hand to hand after exhausting ammo that little loop of metal is a force multiplier and is unliekly to be construed as a deadly on purpose modification.
