Default 1911 idea

Have an idea for a build (if I ever get the $ for it). Always wanted a 357mag 1911, but the coonan arms is a little pricey. So I'm thinking of putting together a 1911 in 357 sig . Can get 40 S&W frame and slide from several manufactures. And STI has .355 barrel blanks http://www.stiguns.com/products/parts/barrels/, but will the frame handle the recoil, and is there enough material on the STI barrel blank for a 357 sig chamber? Also would it need the 9mm slide or a 40 S&W slide?
What do you all think?

You could call STI and ask them, their customer support is very helpful.

It would take a 40 slide.

Will it work? I hope so---Sig has been selling the 1911 Nightmare in 357 Sig for a while now.
