You can use a piece of dental floss or a toothpick to depress a stubborn plunger. A little oil/lube and some pressing/releasing can help with a stiff spring.

Your right on this. I have done many motor swaps late night while intoxicated. Come daylight and sobriety, bolts were left over. They always ran and stayed together, well that one time.......

Zg is it running? I think it sounds like the slide stop didn't go through the barrel link.
