There needs to be an option for indifferent about them.

Keep your fingers off the trigger and you shouldn't have to worry about your hand being that close to the business end.

I'm not really a fan and I wouldn't use them. I think the gun looks a lot cleaner without them. However, I wouldn't avoid buying a gun JUST because it has the FSS.

I don't like FS's. I got around to wanting a Colt CE and the FS's were a major problem. I had a matte SS 1991 that I couldn't hardly stand to look at and I got to thinking...
After a few parts and a trip to CCR, I had what I wanted.

FSS should be a choice. I have 3 pistols with them, but I don't really care for them. The only reason I have them is because the pistols I ordered came with them standard, if I could have a choice I would not have them.

As far as not having your hand that close to the business end, just keep your finger off the trigger. Safety starts in the mind, and rule number one is treat all guns as if they were loaded. Accidents will happen but gun accidents are either expensive, dangerous, and/or deadly. If you don't like FSS just use the rears, but respect the person who prefers fronts.
