1911 frame

Looking for a 1911 frame new or used in good condition. Looking to do a fun but inexpensive build.

Centerfiresystems.com used to have some.
You could also check gunbroker.com

Or go to Brownells.com

Have you ever built a 1911 before? If you do it right, it's rarely inexpensive.

Thanks Olympus, I forgot to mention that.

And I forgot to mention that sometimes these "inexpensive" builds result in getting duplicate parts because of fitting problems.
I've had one individual "offer" me his extra parts if I could get his 1911 build to function. All the parts were out of spec (and a lot were new from "kits" (frame kit, slide kit)).
By the time I got his piece to function, his cost in parts alone would have bought him a used RIA or new Auto Ordnance.

Add his time, well, maybe a nice Springer.

Too many people think the 1911 is like an AR and they can just put it together like a LEGO set. Not trying to say that the OP falls into this category, but I see this too many times on multiple other forums.

Thats the truth!

The 1911 is a finely tuned machine that cant just be thrown together and achieve its peak performance. There is a difference between being budget friendly and being cheap.

also factor in the cost of specialized tools to do the job properly, the cost goes even higher. i too years ago wanted to build my own 1911 pistol, and after factoring in the cost of the parts and tools, i could purchase a couple of really nice 1911's already to go shooting without the time and labor.

now if you are in the catagory that you either have the the tools and the skills to build one, check out Brownell's as they carry frames and slides and every other part and tool needed for building one from scratch. another option, hit the pawn shops and gun stores for a beater to redo. or check and see if there are any gus shows coming into your area.

Hey----Ya'll scarin away the new guy

Seriously- Built a few-----------------------Just buy one :o
If you already have parts gathered up Ebay them - You can sell anything but the frame there - Put profit towards a new 1911
