i am of the firm belief that on the standard 1911 in 45 acp, a comp is useless for about 99% of the people who own them. they wouldn't be able to tell the difference in recoil anyways. most people might say they want recoil reduction, but truth be told they want their pistol to look cool.

i have seen kids and women shoot 45's with no problems. if you can't handle the recoil of a 45 acp, go find something smaller. hell, my wife shoots mine and they don't bother her!

about the only 1911's IMO that need a comp, are conversions to a larger caliber or competition pistols where a trained shooter knows the difference and a micro second might mean the difference between winning or losing. other than that, they are for looks and are pretty useless.

Compensator for a 1911...why? Recoil on a steel frame 1911 is NOT worthy of a compensator. Sounds like a waste of cash to me. Is it to make it tacti-cool?

SS215, that's why 99% of people put a comp on a 45. to make it look cool or tactical. i went through that phase many years ago. all the wasted money spent on firearms to make them look cool or tactical would have bought me alot of firearms!

Yeah I mean I get it, and like you said Axxe some people will go through many phases as a gun collector/enthusiast. I went through my tact-cool phase. Nothing wrong with taking a bone stock firearm and adding goodies (within reason) but this one just doesnt make sense to me because its strictly cosmetic. I would go on a limb and say you would notice less than 5% improvement on accuracy or performance. Now, ported barrel/slide is different....

Me personally, I now only make purchases & trades towards quality firearms or REALLY good deals that are hard to pass up....and dont waste my cash on cosmetic gadgets anymore. I roll that money into ammo, or my family

oh they do work, even on a 1911 in 45. thing is most people are just not able to realize the subtle difference in recoil. a competition shooter who shoots more in a day than most people do in a year would be able to tell that difference. it would mean the difference in losing a match or winning for him. everyone else not so much.
