Default 1911 build

Want to start my first 1911 build I have a pretty strong gun smithing back ground but I don't have access to a lot of metal working tools so can any one who has built on tell me the best frame and slide to buy so I dont have to do extensive fitting work I.e cutting ejection port and so on

You can order Caspian slides and frames with just about any option you could want:

There are also several matched slide/frame sets available in brownells. IIRC, STI and Wilson have some nice ones in the brownells catalog.

Another frame or kit you could look at is Fusion Firearms.
Bob Serva used to be president of Dan Wesson before CZ-USA took it over.

Pre CZ Dan Wessons had a good reputation and used parts that looked like Ed Brown parts.

Check out these guys and use STI. Lots of options for a build and STI has a great reputation.

I have doen one using a fitted frame and slide from Fusion. Also Caspian and Rem Sport offer frame and slide combos.

Fusion has some Forged Frame and slide combos and I heard thaey were going to be offering some cast frame and slide combos. Rem sport offers forged Slides and frames. Caspian offers some cast frames with one of the best reputations around as far as cast frames go.
