1911 9mm custom
Alright, I know you've heard this a thousand times before, but I want a custom 1911. And a warning to all, I want a 9mm. Before the meatheads start going at it, the ammo's cheap and I like to shoot 20 holes in something before reloading. I'd like some help and advice concerning this so any input (not concerning the caliber) is welcomed and appreciated.
My wish list is looking something like this-
Colt double stack long frame
A Sig Sauer, Kimber, or Les Baer long slide (or just a good thick slide)
Pivot Style Trigger (as opposed to the straight pull)
A good compensator
Good target sights
Wooden wrap around grips with finger grooves

If any good parts (especially the ones not listed above) that you know of would be good help. Thanks.

Start with the Para LDA.
That has the pivotal trigger and can be had in double stack (used, the company only makes single stacks now).
The long slide and compensator will be the hardest. It can be done, but you will lose the "balance" designed into the 1911, and finding a holster long enough (if you want to protect the front sight) will require special made.
Aftermarket sights can be installed.
Wooden wrap around grips could be a problem. That will make the grip area thick (and on a double stack frame, your hands will have be kinda large).

The 9mm conversion will require a barrel, slide, ejector, extractor, firing pin, and maybe some ramp work to get it to feed reliably.

Your custom can be done as you planned it out, but expect to pay dearly for it.

Or start with

Custom hi-cap ?
Find a Para P18 lower & slip a Caspian 1911 top end on it
I used to have some 22rd mags for it but doubt you can find those anymore :(

You could do that. Remember that the lower is a series 80 setup.

Colt used to make 45acp double stacks. Sig Sauer (I think) doesn't make 9 millies, but Kimber and Les Baer do (the latter even sells a 6" slide solo). Assuming money isn't a factor, do you think I could get Colt to make a extended frame in 9mm? Maybe even with beaver tail grip safety? In regards to the extreme weight and balance, there's two reasons I want it this way. I like far off targets, and I find it difficult to beat an attacker to death with a compact. I know a man who cuts 1911 slides to a Beretta 92 style, so if the balance is that bad, I'll give him a call. There's a place called Gun Craft who makes pivot triggers. If anyone knows a place that makes wrap around grips, it'd be much appreciated. I don't particularly care for Para but if I have to...

You know, the more I think about it, the more this is starting to look like a 1911/Beretta 92 love child.

Oh, and any compensator suggestions? Thanks.
