not 100% sure, but might need the entire slide as well as the ejector. hopefully one of the more versed 1911 guys will chime in here and give us a heads-ups.

What about the breach face? That's a big difference in diameter, one woukd think the 9mm have enough room to wiggle out from under the extractor

c3shooter 03-25-2013 03:05 AM

Y'all are likely going to need a new set of springs as well. Angle on feed ramp different. Extractor- and the smaller diameter of the round will require some tuning.

Hell, ANYTHING is possible (except skiing thru a revolving door) Question is how many $$$$ you want to throw at it? Drop-in type kit? Not for .45 ACP to 9mm Para. .38 Super to 9 is another matter.

Shoot- 38super to 9mm you can use the same mag :D

Yes, .38 Super to 9mm, slide is the same, same mags can be used, same extractor, same ejector, different barrel, new springs.

.45 to 9mm, new slide (breech face is different), new mags, new extractor, new ejector, new barrel, new springs.

.45 to .40S&W, new slide, new mags, new extractor, new ejector, new barrel, new springs.

.40S&W to 10mm, same slide, new mags, same extractor, same ejector, new barrel, new springs.

As the ultimate .38 Super fanboy, IMHO that would be sacrilege. Like trading a Corvette for a minivan.
