You are correct. You can convert a handgun to a long-gun but "cannot" convert it back to a handgun within Federal Law. One exception made was the Thompson Contender Pistol/Carbine Kit of many years ago. You cannot legally convert a standard Contender Pistol into a rifle and back to a pistol within Federal Law. I know it's stupid, but thats the way it is..................
