I'm going to look at a Colt Mark 4 Series 70 1911 pistol that is supposedly in great condition. Any ideas on what that's worth? He's asking $1000. I'm thinking I can get a decent used S&W 1911 for around $800. Opinions? |

I just paid exactly that amount for the same pistol last weekend at a show. I think I got a fair deal because it's in mint condition. If yours is in the same condition, I would say that's the going rate for that gun. It's a good investment....even though they made a lot of them, they're not making them any more. I'm sure that, in the long run, you would be much happier with the Colt than with the Smith. What's the finish? |

$1000 is too much unless it comes with a bunch mags, ammo and other goodies. $800 is reasonable but I would start lower. Good luck with that. __________________ 27 Words keep us "free" |

It seems high to me. I think around $700.-$800. is more appropriate as well. __________________ Ineptocracy (in-ep-toc’-ra-cy) - a system of government where those least capable of leadership are elected by those least capable of producing, and where the members of society least likely to succeed or provide for themselves are rewarded with goods and services paid for by wealth confiscated from a diminishing number of people who actually work and produce.

Remember, this is a COLT 1911, not a Glock Still better off than paying $800 for a used S&W. |

I think $800 is a good deal for some used smith 1911's. |
