Default Selecting a 1911

I recommend you keep in mind what you want to do with your 1911.

Make a list of features you want it to have and then decide the max amount of $$$ you want to put into this project to get there.

There is no substitute for quality parts and gunsmithing !

There are reasonable priced guns to get there. If you purchase something like a Les Baer Premier II..it is all done and there are no parts to throw away !

I welcome your 1911 questions via e-mail...I work on them all !

I shoot a Kimber Custom II. Plain jane but shoots good. The factory mag caused a little trouble but was soon replaced with several Wilson Combat 47D. Good to go now.

My next purchase will probably be another 1911. The Taurus intrigues me but I have some doubts that brand. May look into a SA Mil-Spec or try to find one in .38 Super.

I've owned several brands but my favorite is the Springfield Armory.

I'm a big fan of Springfield Armory, and just spent the most I've ever spent on a pistol!! It's a TRP Operator. Here it is:

It is going to be my duty duty weapon, and will have a Streamlight TLR-1 or TLR-2 attached to it. I took it to the range this week, and fired a string at 15 yards off-hand:

I have three 1911s
A Colt Government model, a Para Ord C745 and a Kimber Ultra ll.

The Para is the best by far.

The Classic from Wilson Combat will be here next month.
