10mm on the 1911 platform?
 

It looks like STI, Kimber, Nighthawk and maybe Dan Wesson still chamber it. Anyone else not listed? Unfortunately, it looks like the Kimber is the only one in my price range ($1000+/-). I say "unfortunately" based off of what I've heard, not hands on experience.

i'm not for sure if they still do, but Colt use to offer one in 10mm.

I believe that Dan Wesson quit chambering that round starting this year.

There are some on gun auction sites. You can normally pick up a used 10mm for less than new.

colt offers their combat elite in 10mm unfortunately its stainless steel only :(

I have a Kimber Eclipse in 10mm, after a few FTF's during break in, it's been a very reliable gun ever since. I did buy some of the Tripp Research 9 round Cobra mags and have been using them exclusively.

Just bought this used Dan Wesson Razorback 10mm last week for under $1000. There are deals to be had, you just have to keep your eye out for them.

The STI Perfect 10 gets me all sorts of randy but that would kill the ammo budget. It would also push back the Trojan purchase until spring and I'm not sure I can live with that. Used??? I guess I'm just picky because I like virgin steel.

As far as 10mm's go, is it true barrel life is short or is that just some B.S. armchair QB commentary?

That's a pretty DW you got there.

the 10mm is a little hotter than the other pistol cartridges, and barrel life is a lot of times based on the load, but i would venture a guess most people will probably never wear one out. most of it probably comes from competition shooters who shoot way more than the average person to begin with. if you want the 10mm, i say go for it.
