10 rnd mag issues

I've had a few 10 rnd aluminum mags from Pro Mag. I've used them to shoot at least 300 rnds through my springfield 1911. Recently an issue came up while I was at the range. I pull the slide back and in only goes forward about a 1/4 inch. I've tried locking the slide back and removing the mag, but the mag wouldn't release. And only after pulling the slide back 3 more times did it finally load and was capable of firing. It only happens with the first rnd though, but still rather annoying. I've had the issue before with 15 rnd mags but the 10 rnd mags worked fine up until now.

Just looking for some assistance.

Make sure that the magazine spring is under the follower and not under the follower notch.

shoot safe, shoot straight, and have fun

Disassemble and clean your mags once in a while.

Generally, there is a release at the bottom of the mag.

Wipe it all down with light oil when you are done.

Replace the ProMag's and get MecGar or something different. Never been a fan of the ProMag. I had problems with them feeding so I dumped them. Just my .02 cents.

I've had ProMag problems before. Sent it back to company and they fashioned a sleeve around it. No problems since.

I could not agree more! +1

Call Aaron @ Tripp (877.837.9445) and order one. (Tell him canebrake said hi.) Run the Cobra mag and if for any reason you find it less than flawless, I'll buy it from you including shipping to you and to me! My money is on you ordering more Cobra Mags. Yes, they are that good!
