hey guys,i know this is a 1911 forum.But i noticed cane's sign off says im always 10 8.What does 10 8 mean?Police terminology for in use?or in service?Or something else?thanks much.steven

10-8 code means in service and he's always offering up good advice so I'm going with that.

Look I'll tell you this one. 10~8 means, " in service". If I tell you anymore police secrets, I'll be 10~15:-)

Of course, while many folks are familiar with the 10 codes, few are familiar with the 12 codes.
Developed for communication between officers to the Patrolman level, it includes usefull shorthand sort of items, such as
12-45 Do you realize how stupid THAT was?
12-60 All units copied your last transmission, and we think you are an idiot

all the PD codes I know are for Adam 12 or dragnet and a few form my Son
