10-15 Round Pro Mags
Anybody have any experience with the 10 to 15 round single stack pro-mags for the 1911?
I'm thinking about trying them out, but since they are really cheap when compared to other mags I want to make sure they have decent quality first. 10 ROUND MAGAZINE: http://us.st12.yimg.com/us.st.yimg.c..._2034_28346402 15 ROUND MAGAZINE: http://us.st12.yimg.com/us.st.yimg.c..._2034_29010505 |
I bought an 11 rounder once, I think it might have been by these guys, but I would have to check. Damn thing wouldn't work no matter what I did. I ended up throwing it in the parts bin and never looking back.
Interested to hear how yours fair for you... JD |
I already have 2 Kimber 10-rounders which are pretty good in quality. The only thing I don't like is the fact that they have no base pad of any type like the Pro Mags do.
I'm hesitating on getting the Pro-Mag brand just because of how cheap they are (I know price doesn't really matter most of the time, but I like to play it safe with magazines). |
I checked that magazine I bought it was Mec-Gar, not Pro-Mag. same number of syllables. :D
Sorry about that. Mec-Gar is usually a pretty good brand too, but that one I couldn't make run no matter how I messed with it. Might be worth buying one of those and see if it works for you....*shrug* JD |
Several years ago, during the hi-cap ban, I worked at a shooting range.
The range somehow got ahold of hi-cap,supposedly pre-ban,PRO Mags ! At first they sold VERY well, due to the impossibility of getting hi-caps. After a short while, the range, was forced to return most of the monies that customers had paid---because the Pro-Mags did not function well at all. I'd estimate that about 90% of the Pro-Mags were returned due to malfunctions. You are very correct about them being CHEAP. They were extremely "tinny" then --and apparently have not changed much ! My nod would be to something like the Mec-Gar magazine...they are usually less expensive ,than factory, but function very, very well. Check them out on the web ........Dillinger is on the money about Mec-Gar being quality stuff ! BTW--these mags. were not 1911 mags but a Pro Mag is a Pro Mag ! |
