Your OP reads "For someone looking at their first handgun with a budget and wants to go 1911." I read that as looking for a CHEAP 1911.

If you want to know what I think the best 1911 is look at what I carry.

A Colt Commander Lightweight Model chambered in .45 ACP.

But.......if you want to know what my favorite 1911 to shoot happens to be, it's the GSG 1911-22.

And if I had my choice between an entry level 1911 that didn't run and any glock, I'd take the 1911.
I didn't mean to put words into your mouth. That sentence was supposed to end with a question mark not a period. I was posting from my phone & my fingers and my phone don't always cooperate.

I am just looking for a hand gun with a budget in the $500.00-$600.00 range & I prefer the 1911. It is what I carried when in the service so I am comfortable with them. While a 1911 22 sounds fun to shoot I also want this weapon for self & home defense.

I have read your sticky which is very helpful but it is also a couple years old. I know certain manufacturers that may have been lagging in the past may have improved & I also know that can work the opposite direction as well.
