Default The story of the elusive G19

So I just want to share the story of my recent adventure of buying a new Glock 19. I recently traded my Gen2 G19 to start my journey of finding a Gen 3 (I really need a light rail and those tackey light mounts for gen2s arent my thing) Well like a dummy, I didnt evaluate the current stock of glocks, or lack there of, and I traded the gen 2 for a gen 3 g26 which I turned around and sold to get the money for the g19. I looked everywhere local for about a week before one of the salesman at my local store informed me of the back order. My heart sunk. Here I am with a wad of cash ready to buy a G19 but there are none to be had. It seems like it may be weeks or even months before I would even have a chance to find a NIB G19. I am an extremely impatient person and I had almost given up and was about to close the deal on a private sale for a rediculous price when I received a newsletter from my favorite LGS that they had just gotten a few G19s in stock. I didnt need to hear anymore. Luckily I was on my lunch break and only about 15 minutes from the store so I hightailed it over there. When I arrived the little mousey girl at the counter informed me they only recieved G19Cs. ILL TAKE IT! at this point im going crazy and ill take what I can. I ask the price...$527!!! THATS IT??!?!? REALLY!!!?? my day just got that much better! I proceed to fill out the BGC and I start talking to the owner who strolled in after my initial conversation with mouse girl. I tell him of my hardships and how grateful I am for the newsletter and how even though I wanted a standard G19 I was plenty happy with the 19C. "what?" he said, looking rather confused. "we got 4 standard G19s in also" as he pulls out a box that I swear took the shape of a pot of gold. "these are only $499" the owner tells me. I almost passedthe hell out. $499 for a brand new G19!? I havent seen that since Decemeber 13th 2012! I dont think I can explain the joy I felt while all this was taking place. I take a shot in the dark by asking if any spare mags came in and brace myself for the common response to that question. He proceeds to toss a 15 rd g19 mag on the counter with a price tag of $24. I should have worn a Depends because I almost wet myself! So heres a summary. After about 2 weeks of searching all around me for the elusive NEW G19 that I heard so much about from the history book and other states (texas and oklahoma specifically) I was about to pay $750 for a used G19 but by the grace of the Glock Gods I was led to this wonderful place where price gouging was an unheard of phenomenon and ended up walking away with a brand spanking new (test fired on 3-8-13) G19 and an extra mag for just at $550. I know to some of you I sound like a nut, but I know there are others out there that are in the same boat. I just wanted to share my story with those who can appreciate it because I can tell you one thing...my wife could care less

i gotta find ammo first!!! That was the first thing that I thought about when the excitement of finding the G19 wore off. If people would stop buying it just to hoard it and let guys who actually want to get out and train have some then it would be ok.

Cheaper than Dirt has boxes of Tulammo for $70...

I wouldn't suggest that, though.

What an awesome LocalGunStore story. We just can never forget the awesomeness of many of our local gun stores. (And I'm NOT talking about the gun counter at Dick's...)

Good for you... I'm not a GLOCK guy myself but I certainly understand the "quest"... mine was several years back. I spent 9 months searching for a specific .44 Mag, an S&W 629 "Mountain Gun" with the 3" barrel and the lanyard ring to be specific.

I hit every gun store on the I5 corridoir before getting the call from my LGS. $640.00 out the door and I'm still proud of that one!

Tack
