What are your thoughts and reviews on the Blackhawk Serpa CQC holster? I've heard some good and bad, thinking of getting one for my G17

I used to like the Serpa a lot. Now that I've used other stuff, I don't like it as much. I had one for an M9 and a Glock.

What do you use now for a glock?

Had one for a while...found it to be way too bulky. Also found that a lot of training schools don't allow them.

Not a fan. The retention mechanism can get debris inside and then block access to your gun. Not a good trait in a holster.

I've had a level 2 serpa since the day I bought my g22 last summer and after trying several other holsters from various brands and styles it's the only one I use anymore. There's absolutely nothing wrong with the retention if you draw like it was intended which becomes second nature the day you buy it. Debris? Keep your gear clean and take care of it and it will function forever. Just like your fire arms. Bulge? Not much more than a kydex holster. The Serpa will also protect the finish unlike kydex. Countless trips to ranges and mountain camping trips and never a single issue. Not only for me but for every other gun buddy I have that also use these as their sole all around holsters.
