I have a G19 with the compensated barrel, I ordered it that way because I thought it would dampen the recoil somewhat. I also specified the "Trijicon" night sights and this is where I'm having a problem. When I go to the range with this gun the front sight gets fouled up by the gasses being emitted thru the compensated slots after about 2 mags being fired (30 rounds).

So my question is how to fix this or do I have to buy different sights? What do you guys think?

If you want night sights (and I'll assume you do since you paid for them), the easiest fix would be to buy an aftermarket non-compensated barrel. Many good ones out there and Brownell's carries them. I had a G21 compensated for a (very) short time and I put a Storm Lake barrel in it...

Are you wanting to keep the compensated barrel/slide?

I had a G23C for a while (w/ regular sights). I used to just lick a finger and wipe the front sight off periodically. But the dirt on the sight might be more distracting if it's a night sight.

If you fire that thing at night, you're going to have trouble picking up any sights at all after the first shot. Just firing mine at an indoor range, I could see the two jets flash up on each shot.

If you are no longer interested in having it be compensated, the new barrel is the way to go.

There are trade off's to everything....I took the compensated, but I have yet to notice any significant issue with my sights, however I have stock dots. (G19C)

I don't have night sights on mine but have not had a problem with stock sights with my lone wolf 40/9 ported barrel. Since it takes 3 minutes to switch out the mag and barrel It goes back to stock 40 cal after a range visit for home defense. Low light in hall way no light in the bedroom easy target acquisition.

All ammo is dirty but possibly checking out cleaner ammo for a start. Winchester makes the win-clean that they say is much cleaner to shoot. That might make it so you can get a few more mags down range before having the problem.

It sounds like a new barrel might be in my future.
