New sights for Glock 17
I bought some tridium sights. They didn't come with a tool to install.
I'm wondering how difficult it is to install them. I already installed an
extended magazine release button and 3.5lb trigger pull. Is it much
more difficult than those?
Replacing the sights for your Glock is fairly easy to me but depending on how much experience you have working on guns could be diffacult for you.
Depending on which generation your Glock is your front sight may be pinned or it may have a small hex headed screw. If it’s pinned you can pull the pin with jeweler’s needle nose pliers and gently squeeze the sides of the sight post and gently push the front sight up and off. If you have the hex head screw you will need a Glock front sight tool to remove it easily as it will probably be held in with lock tight.
To do the rear sight right you will need a Glock sight removal tool but they cost about $100 bucks. You might drift it out with a brass punch but you run the chance of screwing up the new sight putting it in if you’re not careful.
If I was you I would take it to a gunsmith to have it done.
It's a spankin' new Gen 3. Gen 4 not in CA =(
I'll call a few shops this weekend and see what can be done about it. The rear sights sound tricky.
The rear sites is the main problem. We don't like it covering up 1/2 the white dot in the middle.
Rear sight is SUPER easy, IF you have the sight tool that Dzscubie mentioned.
I can't imagine a local smith would charge you much, and can do it while you wait.
