I carry a Glock 19. My range gun for competition is a Glock 17. If you're still deciding between the two, ask yourself if you want self protection or a fun range gun. The 19 can go both ways for production class and for carry. The 17 is a bit much for carry, but it can be done, and it will serve you better for competition.

I suggest a gen 3 G19. Great grip and feel, not too big not too small. 15+1 capacity. Great for range and defense. Carries well also. There are lots of great guns out there, but IMO none of them come close when the price is taken into consideration. I would like a Navy issue Sig P226, but $850 is out of the question. Ill pay $550 and get the same reliability. True the Sig has more bells and whistles, but the Glock is a true Grunt
