The inner tube idea has been around for many years. I saw it used on revolvers back in the sixties by shooters shooting steel silhuette targets with large calibers. Of course they also used welding sleeves pulled up on their pants leg, usually leather, to prevent getting flash burns while resting the guns against them. You make do with what is available to get the job done.
