Gaston Glock has proven to be the greatest gun maker of all time.
So what is up with the gen. 4's? Quentin just posted a thread about a recoils spring exchange and I've heard other chatter about this and that.
I at this time owning 3 guns, 2 Glocks, I wouldn't buy a Gen. 4 on a dare.
They could have just kept the Gen 3's and just modified the frames or what not. |

I have to disagree on that one. John Mosses Browning has more gun patents than anyone and a lot if not most of handgun designs have something from John Browning's creations in them. __________________ "It's a gun you loaded on Sunday, and shot all week."

I also take exception to that statement.
Gaston Glock is the founder of Glock GmbH, founded in 1963, manufactured primarily doorknobs, hinges, and other hardware supplies. In 1980 he saw a chance to to make a cheap gun for the Austrian military.
Gaston Glock - Glock "safe-action" auto-loading lightweight pistol
John Moses Browning on the other hand was a world class inventor that spent a lifetime in the firearms business.
Several of Browning's designs are still in production today. Some of his most notable designs include:
Firearms - U.S. M1895 Colt-Browning machine gun
- FN Browning M1899/M1900
- Colt Model 1900
- Colt Model 1902
- Colt Model 1903 Pocket Hammer (.38 ACP)
- Colt Model 1903 Pocket Hammerless (.32 ACP)
- Colt Model 1905
- Remington Model 8 (1906), a long recoil semi-automatic rifle
- Colt Model 1908 Vest Pocket (.25 ACP)
- Colt Model 1908 Pocket Hammerless (.380 ACP)
- FN Model 1910
- U.S. M1911 pistol (.45 ACP)
- Colt Woodsman pistol
- Winchester Model 1885 falling-block single shot rifle
- Winchester Model 1886 lever-action repeating rifle
- Winchester Model 1887 lever-action repeating shotgun
- Winchester Model 1890 slide-action repeating rifle (.22)
- Winchester Model 1892 lever-action repeating rifle
- Winchester Model 1894 lever-action repeating rifle
- Winchester Model 1895 lever-action repeating rifle
- Winchester Model 1897 pump-action repeating shotgun

- U.S. M1919 air-cooled machine gun

- U.S. M2 .50-caliber heavy machine gun of 1921 (the famed "Ma-Deuce" weapon)
- Remington Model 8 semi-auto rifle
- Remington Model 24 semi-auto rifle (.22) Also produced by Browning Firearms (as the SA-22) and several others
- Browning Hi-Power (Grand Puissance or GP), the standard sidearm of many military and police forces
- The Browning Superposed over/under shotgun was designed by John Browning in 1922 and entered production in 1931
- Ithaca Model 37 pump-action repeating shotgun
Cartridges
In addition, the cartridges he developed are still some of the most popular in the world. They include: - .25 ACP
- .32 ACP
- .38 ACP
- 9mm Browning Long
- .380 ACP
- .45 ACP
- .50 BMG
Glock has a great public relations department. Problem is that nobody in their public relations department shoots! And their message (mantra) has never changed over the years. (Boy those guys are skating!) Shoots in water yada yada yada....shoots in mud yada yada yada....shoots on the moon! If you tell someone something over and over they just give up and believe it.
Please do not take me wrong. Glocks are fine handguns (for some people, God bless them) but not me! __________________ .

I respect your choice in firearms and have no intention to sway you away from them.
Just don't insult a long and storied list of "gun makers" by putting Gaston Glock at the top.

As others have said, not true.

There is not near the problem with the Gen 4 that the internet commandos would have you think. I have a Gen 4 17 with about 500 rounds through it without issue, and I have a friend who has a Gen 4 27 with no issues. I'm sure there are pistols out there that have issues, but it's just like the AR reliability or AK accuracy stigma, it's not nearly as bad as internet commandos would like you to believe.
