IMHO, the .45 GAP is an answer in search of a question.
Basically, duplicates .45 Automatic Colt Pistol catridge ballistics in a shorter cartridge case. Shorter case needed for some Glock pistols.
Myself, just don't see it. Expect to see it totter down the well worn path to the Home For Cartridges That Someone Thought Would Be A Good Idea any day now. The .35 S&W auto will be waiting to welcome it.
Not bad, just not better than what is already around.

The GAP was an attempt to duplicate the ACP in a 9mm/40 size package. It worked, kind of. The .40 frame is fitted with a larger than .40 slide so it is not as compact as the 17,19,22,23 series.
I would not buy one as I do not think the cartridge has much life left in it. It may go the was of the 9mm Federal (look that one up)

The .45 ACP was designed by John Moses Browning.
The other one was designed for a hardware salesman.
Another difference is 99 years.
John M Browning developed the .45 ACP in 1904 for use in his prototype Colt semi-automatic .45 pistol. (You know the one that eventually became the M1911 pistol adopted by the United States Army in 1911.)
Ernest Durham at CCI/Speer developed a cartridge for Glock in 2003 that would equal the power of the .45 ACP but was shorter. Part of the request was the case head must be stronger than the APC round. (IMO, a request to fix a flawed glock gun design.)
I'm going to wait until 2103 and if the .45 GAP is still around I may consider using it. But I think the .45 ACP will be preparing to celebrate it's 200th birthday and I'll probably just keep shooting it.
