I have a G26. Nice shooting, compact carry gun. I do suggest getting Pearce grip extensions for it. Gives just enough to give a full grip on it. I also have G17 magazines with grip extensions. Great for the range. Lets you load 17 rds and gives the same size grip as the 17.

with pearce extension

With 17 rd mag

What is the point to extensions? I understand they make the gun fit more in your hand because the sub compact(G26) has a tiny handle. But why not just buy a compact(G19) or full size(G17) if you cant hold the subcompact without extenders?

Please fill me in if there is something I am missing.

Because the extensions only increase the size of the grip - not the rest of the gun...

Isnt the top the same size as the G19 and G17? The only difference in the 17 and 19 is grip size, isn't it the same "rest of the gun" for the 26 aswell?

Both the width and height are smaller on each successive model.

From Glock's website:
G17 = 7.32" x 5.43"
G19 = 6.85" x 5.00"
G26 = 6.29" x 4.17"

Pearce grip extensions don't add much to the length of the grip. The first pic riggergreg posted has a Pearce extension on it. The second has the extension that makes a Glock 17 magazine fit comfortably with the grip. Most people use something like that for shooting at the range — fewer reloads.

As utf59 says, They get smaller successively.
The 26 and 27 are the smallest pistols made by Glock. Most call em "The Baby Glock".

Without the extension, Your little finger has nowhere to grip. It gives you a better grip while still keeping it concealable.

I've got a 19. I bought a G17 magazine with a grip extension for it. Really, the 19 grip is adequate down to the pinky and I didn't need that extension.

Concealing a handgun for me, has become much more about length of grip than the other things. I use a Kahr PM9 for most of my concealed carry. It came with a 7-round magazine with a grip extension, but my hanging pinky isn't any problem fro me at the range and it conceals a lot better.

I would think it is the same for the 26. I would shoot it without the Pierce extension and see if you can handle the haning pinky before adding an extension which just makes the grip stick out more. Like you say, then you might as well buy a G19.
