Sub-compact definitely for carry. Full size otherwise. I was skeptical when I bought my first Glock but it's a terrific weapon. Either way, it's a good weapon.

Default 5-inch?

Can a 5-inch pistol be concealed for CCW?

Sure, I know many folks that conceal full-size 1911s. The barrel length isn't what makes a gun difficult to conceal - it's the grip size and overall thickness...

interesting. My Sigma SW9VE is 1.29 inches thick; the Glock info. Ive seen online says the 23 & 27 are 1.18 inches thick...not sure about the Springfield XD/XDm or the Para GI Expert.

Last year I picked up a 27 so I could conceal it easier during the summer versus my 23. As it turned out it really didn't conceal that much better than my 23. Since it really didn't conceal that much better why would I want to give up higher capacity, a more comfortable grip, and less felt recoil? It just didnt make sense to me so I ended up selling the 27 and picking up another 23. I haven't looked back since!

I did not like my G27 and sold it. The G23 is an excellent choice and plenty small enough to conceal.

I carried a Colt Gov't Model for years with no problem. Cargo shorts and a T shirt were more than sufficient to keep it concealed.

You can't go wrong with either one.

But I do find myself carrying the G27 more often than the G23.
It's just the perfect size and it feels better in my hand.
