The 23 is a great gun. You can also get a conversion barrel to shoot 9mm. I swear by my Glocks and have carried one everyday since 2009 when I was issued one. When I switched agencies I was issued and required to carry a Sig while on duty, but I still keep my 26 as a backup and my 19 as a CCW.

The 23 is one of the best .40 compact pistols I've owned; extremely durable and incredibly reliable. You'll love it if you're not completely turned off by the grip angle and its "blockiness." If you're anywhere near Cleveland I can let you try one of mine.

I own a 17 n 19 already just wasn't sure how the 23 compact handled in the .40..I carried a Sig 229 as a duty weapon n own a 226 n a 220

The 23 handles handles exceptionally well. Some say its too snappy, but I've never felt that way. I have heard many Internet rumors that the .40 cal Glocks have had some issues, especially when a tac light is attached. When a light is too tight on the frame it messed with the natural flex of the gun, causing FTEs (supposedly... I've never had an issue with a TLR 1 on my Gen 3 23)

Of course there's always the rumor of the Glock "kaboom", and every time I hear it I ask the person: did this happen to you? The answer is always "my buddy old me about it happening to his friend" or "a guy at the range says he sees it happen all the time." Etc.

I've had both and the only issue I see is you will end up leaving the Ruger alone for extended periods of time.
While the Ruger is a great gun and I own several other Ruger models I ended up selling my P85 and have bought a few more Glock .40's over the years.
Here are my 35, 22, and 27.

I actually shoot better with the Ruger then I do my Sigs n Glocks..At 12yrds at a slow controlled fire I can keep every round in the 5x..The Ruger is just a range gun for me being a 9mm it's just cheaper to shoot then my .40's n especially .45

The Glock 23 is one of my favorite CCW pistols. I've carried it more than any other.

It's snappy I'll tell you that. And not only can you convert it to 9mm but also .357 sig.

I just ordered a gen4 Glock 23 today. I'm planning on getting the 9mm conversion also. Will probably be my edc.
