Is a big glock converted to 9mm as reliable and accurate as a 19/17/26 or does it lose points with the switched barrel?

I'd imagin it would be just the same as a 17 or 19. As long as u have the right recoil spring

To shoot 9mm out of a 22/23 or 31/32, one should change the barrel, the magazine, AND the recoil spring. This is especially true for the Gen 4's, since the mechanism is so different.

Someone earlier wrote that for outdoors/hiking they go back to .357Sig from .40S&W. The ballistics are similar enough between the two that I don't understand the difference. Any thoughts, anybody?

Either way the G23 is a great gun, the right size for many of us and 40S&W is great caliber. 9mm is cheaper to shoot but then you can get a 40-9 conversion barrel for about $100, add 9mm magazines and have both calibers.
Can I do the same conversation a G22 that I just got??

Answered my own question by reading the rest of the threads.

Some people spend much more time worrying about what caliber is ideal for any given situation. When IMO they would be better served spending that time shooting whatever caliber they have so that if the need arises their shot placement is dead on.

My first Glock years ago was a gen3 G23 and was my favorite until I got ahold of a gen4 G23. In all ways I prefer the gen4 to the gen3, and I've owned dozens of gen3's.

Factory ammo is effective for SD use, and for woods use Buffalo Bore makes a 200gr hardcast at 1000 fps for the .40 S&W. My favorite "heavy" load for the G23 is a toss up between a 180gr RNFP hardcast over some Longshot for 1225 fps or a 200gr WFNGC Beartooth over some 3N38 for 1100 fps from the G23. The G23 will do just about anything you need a pistol to do for you, and it's small enough to carry easily and big enough to be a fighting gun too.
