Glock 23

Recently purchased a new Glock 23 .40 cal. Once in about every 3 clips it will fail to eject the spent cartridge and jams the action. What might be the cause of this ? since it is new will this problem work itself out as it gets some wear on it ? So far I have put about 300 rounds thru it .

Difficult to diagnose over the internet. What ammo are you using? How many rounds have been fired through the gun? Too few, the gun may not be broken in yet. Too many and it may be fouling related.

And, not to be a pompous azz hole, but it is a magazine not a clip. Some people will get a negative first impression when incorrect terminology is used.

Thanks for the reply robocop. As soon as I reread my post I saw the clip mistake. So far I have put 300 rounds thru it. I am using Winchester 165gr FMJs. I have cleaned it after every 100 rounds and still have the problem.

The problem is likely extraction related. Because it is intermittant it is probably either the extractor or user related. Remove the slide and check the extractor for damage. The hook should be clean. Look under good lighting with magnification. If the extractor looks good it may be related to a "limp wrist" situation. Light framed guns are more prone to it. Usually it occurs in the last few rounds out of a magazine. The frame becomes lighter as the ammunition is expended and your wrist gets tired.

This happened to me with my glock23 gen 3 . Come to findout it was a messed up magazine.

Is it always the same magazine that if malfunctions on? If so then you may have your answer right there.

It maybe your round. A number of years ago I was using some 165grn (Before I started to reload for my G23) and had of and on FTF's. Since then (a good 14 years) I have only shot 180grn projectiles thru it and can't remember the last FTF.

Thanks for all the replies. Turns out it was one particular mag that was causing the problem.
