I carried the 27 off duty when I was a deputy. Loved it for concealed carry. However, I prefer the 26 over the 27.

I owned a 23 (gen2) which I traded for a 27 thinking that it would conceal better and shoot just as well. At least, that's what all the gun rags were saying about the 27 and I drank the Kool-Aid.

It did neither.

I've now gone back to the 23 (this time a gen3). Small enough to conceal; big enough to shoot well.

I own both, and I prefer to carry and shoot the 27. It's what I had first, and I am much more comfortable with it. Your hand size will probably differ from mine, so you may not have the same results. Find a rental range or friends that have them and try them out.

As a side note, my luck with using the 23 magazines in the 27 has been terrible. It's me. I know it is, but that doesn't mean others won't have the same problem. I gave it three trips to the range firing nothing but that combo, and I just can't hit. A magazine sleeve has been suggested, and my LGS has one on order for me. Maybe that will help.

For me,I really like the G23,it's a bit smaller than my Colt combat commander.

On the G23 I can only get 2 fingers on the grip,so with the sub compacts like the 26 or 27 there's just not enough grip for my hand.

Doc gave a very good suggestion, see if you can rent both pistols you're interested in purchasing at a local shooting range.

Go with the 27 on dates or going to the movies or dinner with the family no one will know. if your alone just going to work or going grocery shopping or doing errands go with the 23 its small enough to conceal but big enough to fight with the 27 is easier to conceal and nobody will notice the only con is you wont get a full grip, the glock 23 people might notice but at least you can get a comfortable grip.

I have both and I prefer the 23 for own and the 27 for iwb.... I shoot the 23 better cause it is larger frame. I also have a conversion barrel for the 27....lone wolf 40/9 which is good to be able to shoot 9mm or 40 Cal but over all I prefer my 23 to carry. Everyone's different thought it is what feels good in your hand?.....

I have the 9mm versions (26 and 19). Love both for what they are. Having spent 8 years in Georgia, the 19 got carried in cooler weather when I had a jacket or long shirt to cover it. The 26 was great in the spring through fall when is wear shorts and lighter shirts. The subcompact frame actually is still very shootable and quite accurate for its size. The mid frame is just a bit more comfortable, controllable and has a longer sight radius that makes it more pleasant to shoot.

If I had to narrow down to only one I may lean toward the mid sized frame for the shooter friendliness. But if CC is the real priority, then the subcompact is a fine piece. You can also use the larger mags in the sub compact and they act as a kind if grip extension.

I found the .40 to be pretty snappy in the 23 and 27 but they are still decent for folks who prefer the .40.
