A 1911 in the cooler months is easy for me to conceal in the warmer months looking for a small lighter gun to shoot that still fits my hand. I do not like having my pinky hanging off the grips so the 19 fits my hand well. So I was originally going to get the the Gen 4 but in speaking with various guns shops everyone I have spoken with says the Gen 3 is a better gun, smoother and more comfortable firing it, and better reliability with various ammo supplies. So my question to you all, is Gen3 or Gen4? The ~$50 is not an issue for me I just want the better gun.
any glock is great. I prefer gen 4 bc u have backstrap options. And the finish of the gun is better looking. As far as performance any glock will do. I have a gen 4 g26. I'm in love with it. But one and you'll become a pistol guy. So accurate right out the box. Just keep the cast ammo away from it.

The back straps were one of the options that pushed me toward the Gen4.

Please expound on that. I cast my own bullets and reload 9mm.

I’ve a G19 gen 4.

If I’m not mistaken, because of the Glock’s polygon ‘rifling’, lead tends to fill the ‘valleys’. They prevent the escape of pressure beyond what is pushing the bullet. It the same reason you’re not supposed to shoot +P or +P+. I’m not wrong about the requirement to use jacketed bullets, and normal pressure rounds only. It’s in the manual.

If you want to shoot unjacketed lead bullets, you can buy an aftermarket barrel with standard rifling.

Lookie what I found:

I thought the reason you didn't use +p or +p+ was the chamber wasn't a fully supported chamber.

It has been my experience that 'most' Glocks are great, but I've had & shot some that were the pits. Three or four years ago, at the Gunny Challenge in Conyers, GA, the GSSF crew brought new pistols, right off the factory line, for us to use in the Challenge. They were terrible! They got too hot to handle after the first two or three relays, would not hit where they were aimed, and patterned like shotguns instead of grouped like they should have. I have many more stories about Glocks (and others), but, don't get me wrong, I'm not bashing Glocks. There are good & bad guns from any company. If you get a Glock that is great, keep it & consider yourself lucky. If not, send it down the road & get another one!

it says not to shoot cast bullets through the stock barrel. Buy an aftermarket. I guess as long as you clean ur gun after every time u shoot it might not matter. Just b safe
