Default Glock 19 Gen 3 vs Gen 4

I am looking forward to buy a Glock 19 very soon but don't know which Gen to get. Should I go for Gen 3 or Gen 4??? I am a left shooter and I have small hands, I understand the feature on the Gen 4 would be more suitable for me but I question the reliability of the Gen 4. After reading and watching video reviews on the Gen 4, many people have encounter enjector errors and spring failures. I have not yet encounter any errors with the Gen 3. As of now I really got my mind set on the Gen 3 but I really want some good insights on the Gen 4. So, what will it be? The Glock 19 Gen 3 or should I go with the Gen 4? Yes their both Glock's yati yati yaw.....I know that !!! But I want a straight answer into which one is better.

I heard mixed reviews when the gen 4s first came out, but recently I've heard nothing but good things. I've also heard that the dual recoil spring used in the gen 4s (like the gen 3 subcompact models) also really reduces felt recoil. I'd go with the gen 4, I really doubt you'll have any issues but if you do, I'm sure Glock will make it right.

My sister owned a gen4 g19 and found the grip a bit large for her. She's a lefty too. She ended up falling for my SIG P229 with the E2 grips. She said she felt more comfortable shooting that over the Glock.

With the gen 4 you can swap out the blackstrap to accommodate larger hands.

I have a gen3 with thousands of rounds with no problems. Just my experience.

I have a gen 3 19 which I completely love, I will be picking up a gen 3 fde 19 on Wednesday which I'm sure I will also have a place in my heart for. After that I will get a gen 4 23. My buddy owns a gen 4 26 and loves it. Just remember that gen 4's have been out for awhile so they have fixed the minor problems they have had with em. Parts are cheap, my gen 19 ejects brass back towards me a good amount so either way you go it's possible you can get one that doesn't have the updated ejector. Ymmv

I have a G19 gen4 that is almost a year old now. It has been flawless. The grip, with no attachments, feels smaller to me than the G3.
Performance was an issue with early G4's but I know many G4 glock owners and all of them like the changes and have no issues.
I use 124 and 147 grain reloads, 115 grain factory loads in the factory barrel as well as a lone wolf threaded barrel with an AAC suppressor with zero issues.
Of course, there isn't anything wrong with the G3's either. I have a G3 G17c that has been flawless as well.

I have a gen 4 G 19 I just had a reflex dot milled in. I would have preferred to have it done on a spare slide, but you can’t get a spare gen 4 slide. At least not yet. Lot’s of gen 3 slides are available.

I get a shell tossed back at me on occasion. It hasn’t been a problem for me.

Otherwise no issues.

Default Thank you All

Thanks guys after extensive thinking I think I am going with the Gen 4 , I still have my doubts but I'm sure after handling and through time i should get over it. I am still not so sure though, If every body can help me with some pros and cons that will be great. I will also like to know about aftermarket or upgrades on both Gen. Also some comparison on stuff like (You can do this on a Gen 3 or you can do this on a Gen 4)

I've always liked the gen 3 models I just bought a gen 4 model 17 and will shoot it this weekend. The grip texture is better on the gen 4 and if u desire u can add a blackstrap if u have large hands. I too am a lefty and after years of training to drop the mag with my trigger finger I'm still leaving the mag button as is due to all the muscle memory I've attained in doing it that way. Good luck and good training with ur new gun
