DefaultGlock 19 for duty.

I'm considering using a g19 for duty. I'm wondering if any of you have used or currently use the mid-size.

Well...the question would have to be...what do you do?

As in...what kind of "duty"?

I'll be using it for security.

Good choice.

Make sure to compare Gen 3 and Gen 4.

Personally I would choose the G17 over the G19 for security carry if you are open carry, for conceal carry the G19 would be better for concealment..

Many departments issue either a compact (19/23) or a full size (17/22). For us, it is a choice. I chose the full size pistol because that is what I am used to shooting. A lot of people are more comfortable with the compact size pistol; it's all your personal preference.

Shoot both sizes and see what you like best.

I carry the full size 17 on duty with my department. I'll be switching to a 21 soon. We have a couple officers who carry the 19 and one that carries a 23. Whichever feels best to you is all I can say.

I appreciate the responses. I'm thinking 19 since its a little more versatile but we'll see. I've shot the 17 already and loved it. I'm planning to soot the 19 on a few days and I'll make my decision then. Most of the guards are carrying the 19 and a few carry the 17.
