glock 19 or 22

I am not sure if I want the 19 or the 22 as my first pistol. Anyone have any pros or cons to either

Neither.. save your money for a 1911. :D

If its your first handgun then i would say the 19, 9mm ammo is plentiful and cheaper to plink and practice with.

Then buy a 1911 :-)

i would say the 19 but if your wanting a 40.cal get the g23 same dimensions of the 19 just a bigger round.

The G22 is the way to go. Great round with great power. Not much more to plink then the 9mm.

I got a G19 as my first pistol. After zipping going through a box of 9MM, I went shopping for a .22LR pistol. I’m not sorry I bought the 9mm because the reason I bought it is still valid, I’m just saying that for a first pistol you might consider a .22LR instead of, or in addition to, the G19, G22, or other pistol. That is if you want to spend any time to get more than just competent with a pistol. Or do you have lots of revolver experience or something?

All my firearm experience is with rifles and shotguns. This is my first step out into the pistol world

The difference between shooting a longarm and a handgun is more than the difference between driving a stick and an automatic. Itís like the difference between driving a car and riding a motorcycle. Outside of sight picture, everything is different. Give some consideration to a .22 pistol as a first handgun.

I really don't have the money to buy a 22 then step up to a 9. And after recent event in my neighborhood I want something defensive as well

Well that's another story, and why I chose a 9mm myself.
