Yes, I've heard about it. So far I'm aware of two owners who have posted about something like this happening with their new Glock. (You're one of them.) My question is; 'So what?' Call the factory and let them take care of it for ya!
The G-30 is a great pistol; maybe, the most accurate 45 acp that Glock makes. Glock isn't going to stick you with a defective frame. Geeze, I wish I could afford a G-30 right now; but, I'm stuck with carrying .... Well, you know what!

Actually once the slide and frame are mated together the recoil guide rod AND spring do, indeed, 'sit inside the frame' together.
