G22 with .357sig conversion for CC?
 

Ok a G22 is next on my list. All of the Leo in my area use the G22. And with most Leo in the country using .40 and 9mm I figure the g22 and a 9mm conversion is the best bet for shtf.

Bad thing is I am not a huge fan of the .40. The .357sig I am highly interested in tho. So I'm thanking of using the g22 with .357 con for my CCW for now. Any thing is better than the big .45 I am using now. (To big, to heavy). The thing that worries me is the 22 was not intended to fire the .357sig. So is there any chance I could run into a issue with the function? I understand that the .357 and .40 use the same frame but the could the fact that it is a conversion kit make it unreliable for CC?

I have a .357 Sig conversion barrel for my G-20. So far it has functioned perfectly except for the Speer RHT Leadfree frangible stuff. The bullet is too light and the G-20 is the large frame with a heavy slide. I would shoot a few hundred rounds through it including at least a box of your carry ammo of choice to insure it will be reliable enough to CCW.

Do they make conversion barrels in 9mm and .40 for the g20?

Good God. If you like the G22, but not .40 S&W, but a G31!!! EXACT SAME WEAPON, just in .357 SIG.

The point of buying a g22 is bc .40 is a highly available round for if shtf. I can also buy a .357 and 9mm conversion barrel and have 3 guns in 1. I don't thank you can buy a .40 conversion for g31. Even tho I don't like .40 it will be nice to have just in case.

No and yes. I have a .40 barrel for my G20. The problem with a 9mm conversion is there are no large frame 9mm magazines (yet).

The idea of conversions is alluring but I'm not a big fan of them. I've always subscribed to the theory that if I want a certain caliber - buy the whole gun. That said, I know a lot of shooters who do the conversion thing and like it, so if that is your thing - go for it. The .357sig is a wonderful caliber and gives most all the .357mag advantages in an autoloader. It also has a report that will deafen you in an enclosed area. Make doubly sure you are using more than adequate hearing protection when shooting it and for cc be aware that the sound of the shot is beyond the threshold of pain.

I will have to agree with you. That's why I asked. I'm a little iffy using a gun with the caliber round it was not made for. I would much rather just have the whole gun. I know with the glock the .357 and .40 are the same frame so it makes me fill a little better to know that the barrel is about the only difference. But I'm still a little un easy about it. I thank I'm just going to use the .40 with some good hand loads or critical duty. Until I get a 10mm or .357sig. I'm not worried about the report of the round. If I ever shoot it without hearing protection going deaf is the last thing I'm worried about.
