First Glock

Never been a huge Glock fan. No real reason. Never shot one, just haven't liked them. Well I fondled one and it felt good.
Anyway, they have a Glock 17, 18, 19, and a 26 all within a few bucks of each other.
So for you Glock folks before I shell out a few hundred bucks, which is better and why?

I don't believe the G18 is available to the general public as it is fully automatic capable, requires class 3 FFL.

I like the 17 for its capacity and the overall size of the gun. The 19 would be a good compromise for a CCW. The 26 would make a good BUG.

Just my 2 coppers.

Could have sworn it said 18. I'm sure it would be a little more than $489 if it was fully auto though. But that would be cool though huh?
I held a a slew of them and they all felt good. Dunno. I'll ponder a bit and swing by Friday or Saturday and make up my mind.

Of those that are actually available to mere mortals I'd rank the 19 first. I have its near twin the 23 and love it. Also have an older 22 but the 23Gen4 is a perfect fit.

The 26 performs just like its older brothers as well as being a great concealed carry option. You can also use the g 17 and 19 mags in the 26 if you are need of more fire power. You can always put more rounds in the 26 but you can make the 17 or 19 smaller!

They are all good guns. I have a 19 and as was mentioned before you can put larger magazines into the smaller guns, but for size I prefer not to go smaller than the 19 but that's due to my preference and large hands. Plus I can still throw the 33 round G18 mag in the 19.

I once was in favor of purchasing a Glock.
Went to the gun shop, as this was my first
time in one, didn't know a darn thing about it.
I asked the shop attendant what was the
difference between the S&W 457 I had in one
hand and a Glock 17 in the other. He pointed
to his partner behind the counter, a rather large
man about 300 lbs, and said: "If you shot him with
this Glock he will fall against the wall but will be
pretty pissed off. If you shot him with this here
S&W 457 he will fall back and never get up again."

So, needless to say, I bought the S&W 457. I have
always been enarmoured with it but have from time
to time looked with curiosity toward the Glock family
... and wondered.

17 or 19 hands down. 17....the original, can't beat the original.

The Glock 19 is a great pistol. It has never jammed on me once and will eat any type of ammo. It is a great conceal gun and with the right ammo will put anything down. I rank it right up there with my Colts, Kimbers and Sigs. Ed

PanBaccha, I'm sorry you got BS'ed by some gunstore ninja. I really hope you don't believe that.

And I'm sorry to tell you CourtJester, but it wasn't an 18. There are a small handful of transferable Glock 18's in the country (less than 10, I think), and they go for north of 30-40K.

Get a Glock 19.
