If you can detail strip your frame, and know how to use a can of spray paint, you can do this.

Yep, detail stripping is the easiest thing in the world. You can learn to do it blindfolded in about 15 seconds, flat.

My main concern is simple but problematic: I'm pretty sure doing a full field strip of a glock voids its warranty
